Childhood Friends

Jennifer was a very special friend growing up not only to me but to a whole group of friends. We became fast friends when we all started at Montara Jr High in Oakland, CA. I don't remember the exact moment, but while she had a group of girls from elementary she welcomed me into the group. Also there were others such as Laura Sturgeon, Linda Blavelt and Jeanne Richter. We spent many weekends together helping which ever one of us had babysitting jobs. Yes believe it or not, the parents didnt mind us sharing the responsibilities ! I was the bolder more outgoing one and Jennifer was the reserved stand back and watch one. Jeanne had a Halloween party one year and Jennifer dared me to go as "The Laugh In Girl" a.k.a Goldie Hawn in the Rowan & Martin Laugh In Show. So I put on a bikini and Jennifer helped paint my body with neon paint with all the '70's hippie signs. Everything went fine until the apple dunking contest. Then the paint got wet and what a mess. We laughed so hard til we cried. These days with all us girls continued all through school. Once she went to college in SLO, I spent many weekends driving down there to be a college girl with her. Jennifer was such a sweet, loving funny spirit. I could understand why Bill fell in love with her. They were inseparable from the time they met. I am so honored to have been able to share those beginning years with them. Jessica, I hope you get a lot of stories. I look forward to hearing them.
